Spring is here and that means it's time for the PIEDMONT FARM TOUR, now in its 14th year!! There's no better way to jump into the season that to get in the car and visit some of the growing number of local organic farms in our area. Details from the tour brochure:

Overall, the tour features eighteen produce farms, twelve farms with
humanely-raised animals, two nurseries, three vineyards and five farm projects.
Says CFSA Executive Director Roland McReynolds, "Sustainable farming in the
Triangle is really coming into its own these days. Everything you want to eat
you can find amongst this outstanding group of growers. We now have the
ingredients of a true regional food system and this is the weekend to go see
what's been cooking."

The tour is co-sponsored by the Carolina Farm Stewardship Association (CFSA)
and Weaver Street Market. It features farms from Alamance, Chatham and Orange Counties. Maps and tickets are available online at www.carolinafarmstewards.org
or at Weaver Street Market and other locations in the Triangle. Tour tickets
are by the carload: $25 in advance, $30 at the door, for any combination of
farms, both days. It costs $10 per carload to visit single farms.

CFSA is a non-profit association of over 1,200 farmers, businesses and
consumers working to create a just and healthy food supply. CFSA maintains a
large and up-to-date online food guide, holds the largest sustainable farming
conference in the Southeast, provides other training, does farm policy advocacy
and leads special projects on organic grains and seeds.
